Silencing A Blowhard.

We all work them. Those who are experts on every subject and can out work everyone there, or so they claim. We have more than one at Wal-Mart, but one stands out above them all. At one time I was one of the few friends he had in the store, but even I have given up on him. In fact I have written about him before. He was the one with the obsession. He works in the dairy department. Usually the only time I work with him is on Saturday nights.

A week ago I was sent to stock in grocery because there was not that much to stock in dairy. We are supposed to stock so many cases an hour and a computer printout shows how many cases there are and how long it should take to do it. In dairy it is 45 cases. Mr Obsession does not working the truck. He wants to do anything but. He is one of the best time wasters that I have ever seen. He also counts the cases that he handles, not necessarily what he puts out. That is one of the ways he wastes time. When he was asked if he was going to have all of the stock that had come in done, he complained there was too much and he didn't think he would. When he was told there was only five hours worth of work to do and no excuses would be accepted, he was whining about that. He complained to me that he had too much to do in only five hours. then he made his mistake. He told me he had 181 cases. He forgot I can do math in my head. I told him that was less than 40 cases an hour, and if he couldn't do that much he should get another job. He was speechless.

I was told later that he was griping about what I said, but he has never said anything to my face. I probably should not have enjoyed telling him that as much as I did, but I would be lying if I said I was sorry about it.
