Neurofibromatosis. A long word that doesn't come up in daily conversation and that most people are unfamiliar with. It is a condition that causes tumors to grow all over a persons body. There are two types of this. One covers the body, but not the face and hands. The other covers everything. I could be wrong, but I believe that the classic image of a witch started with someone who had this condition.
I have become familiar with this condition because My Lady has it. Her appearance is somewhat like the picture I am using today. I just posted a picture of her a couple of weeks ago. You can see it here. If judged solely on appearance, people would stay away from her because she looks different than everyone else. If you did that, you would be missing out on meeting a wonderful lady. I am sure there are those with this condition who hide from society, but My Lady delights in being around people. She is one of the friendliest and most out-going person that you will ever meet.
Every Friday night we get a milk delivery at Wal-Mart. Our driver that night was a woman, one of two female drivers that work at the dairy. She told me that she tried to call in that night but they told her there was no one to cover for her, so she came in. She had a migraine and her sinuses were bothering her. At night time the drivers have to come in through the front of the store. She was walking back to where I was working when she heard laughter. She saw it was My Lady and she told me that lifted her spirits. Just seeing the way My Lady embraced life made the driver feel better.
At times people will say that someone who has a condition like this suffers from it. If you ever meet My Lady you will see that she in no way is suffering. If you decide to turn your eyes away because of her appearance, that is your loss. You are missing a chance to meet one of the most wonderful, caring, friendly, and loving person there is. In my eyes, she is the most beautiful woman I know.
Today's question is Grade 2/Math.
True or False? When you multiply zero by any number the product is always zero.
I knew this one. 114-20.

Having been a person who was "overlooked" or "shunned" most of my life (being obese generates much the same reaction) I have found that it's the people who don't count on their physical attributes to get them ahead in life that are really the ones I want to get to know - they are most often the BEST people with the BIGGEST hearts.
I love seeing stereotypes shattered. All the nonsense you hear in the media about women who are going to pieces because they gained 5 lbs or have hair going gray or broke a nail -- if people think the sole point of existence - of finding love - is "looking good," it's a sad life for them indeed. I'm glad you and Your Lady understand what happiness really is. Rock on!
Great message, Howard!
You're one of the good guys, Howard.
